A Safe Place

In my dream, a night ago,
A figure fleeted, a stranger,
dark and strong, it was you,
you, that I know no longer.

In the darkness of the night,
striding the path of my dream,
you walked in, dazzling bright,
taking me back to my past.

I’d thought you no longer existed,
not in me, not within me,
yet there you strode into my dream,
and told me you did.

To diverging worlds, life took us,
I know not where you are,
you might be close by or far,
I know not how you are.

Then, in this dream of mine,
when I saw you, I knew,
that you were near, close,
somewhere in my depths,
You still have a safe place.
