A Silver Memory

A memory flashed past his eyes. Her standing under the silver light of a shimmering moon. Hair wild, head thrown back and a tinkling laugh. A laugh that was made of star dust, a laugh competing with the twinkling of the stars. And winning.

That was the moment that took his breath away, that was the moment he fell in love with this wild, beautiful, elusive woman.

Now, he squeezed her cold, scrawny, veiny hand as she lay lifeless in the hospital bed.

“The stars wait for you, darling, go, be one of them”, he whispered into her silver hair.
